An arrival day includes more than reaching the island. You may still need a local transfer, check-in, luggage storage and a meal before starting an activity. A holiday itinerary should account for those steps explicitly.
Work from the real arrival point
Check where your incoming service ends and how you will reach your accommodation or tour meeting point. Do not equate “arrival in Cat Ba” with arrival at every hotel or harbour. Ask the providers about the connection using the exact addresses.
Give the first day a simple role
Use it to settle in, confirm the following day's pickup and enjoy a flexible meal. If an afternoon activity is important, obtain advice about the connection and understand what happens if you miss it. Avoid building the day around an unapproved request.

Keep the main bay or fishing experience on a date when you can start from your accommodation without relying on a same-day incoming transfer. This is particularly useful for an early session. A less ambitious arrival plan can protect the activity you came for instead of making it depend on every preceding journey running exactly to schedule.
